Scheduled posting on Instagram. What positive impact can this have for the Artist?

In my last post I highlighted several features that the creator account holds that the standard personal account does not, one being the scheduled posting tool. One of the main areas that I have highlighted with regards to my account is my lack of consistency with posting content. I think this is my main area of detriment to the level of engagement with my content. It is well known that consistent posting and engagement with other accounts and posts can help to boost your own.

Following on from my last post I have been posting regularly for the last week. And using Instagram’s scheduled content option. I scheduled 7 days of posts to upload at various times each day so that I would be able to maintain a constant stream of posting. This has already resulted in a positive impact.

The image above on the left is a screenshot of the statitics of my acccount just before I started to schedule posts for the week ahead. My overall profile veiws sat at 60 on April 1st. The image on the right is a screenshot of the the posts that I had scheduled to go up throughout the week. I used a range of different times for posting but can say that this made much of an impact.

The screenshots above show the gradual rise on engagement and veiwes on my account.

After a week of consitent posting and posting additional stories here and there, the numbers have grown. My profile veiws started at about 60 on April 1st and have risen to 1,215 on April 17th. There is a clear correlation and impact between the ammount you post and the engagement that you recieve. Proving that I should be posting consitently if I want to maintin a good reach with my content.

Utilizing the scheduled content tool is something that has helped me with being able to post consitently for a longer period of time. One of the main drawbacks with this however is having enough content ready to post for that period of time. As I had not posted consitently for a while I had lots of images ready to go but after using them up I have now found that I am struggling to generate content to post for the week ahead. This is a topic that I will talk about in a future post in more depth.

There are several artists of whom I follow on Instagram who are very good at consistently posting. Their images always appear in my feed much more that those who do not consistently post and I suppose this has then pushed their work to the forefront of what I am engaging with.

One of these artists is Ellen Barratt she is a cyantoype artist who utilizes instagram and posts very regulalry on the site. Her account is one of the main accounts that appears within my feed and this is how I discovered her work. I am not sure if Barratt uses the scheduling tool but consistnecy in her posting is something that is there regardless.

The main positive impacts of using this tool as an artist:

  • Can save a small ammount of time daily and allows for bulk posting which can help with not feeling constained to posting on the site everyday.

  • a consistnecy to uploading content which can inturn boost the reach, veiws, likes and interactions with your page.

The main flaw of using the tool as an artist:

  • The main flaw of the tool as an artist is having enough content to actually shedule for it to be posted on a consistent basis. This could lead to the feeling forced into makeing enough content to shedule regular posts.
